OFO's Birding at Home Challenge Results
2020 Results
April 26th to May 31st
Over the five weeks of the challenge, from April 26th to May 31st, the results were really staggering - just shy of 8,500 checklists submitted by participants representing 45 out of 50 of Ontario's designated birding regions, and a whopping 226 (!!!) species were reported.
Species included: 26 waterfowl, 3 grebes, 14 shorebirds, 13 raptors, 8 woodpeckers, 10 flycatchers, 5 vireos, 7 thrushes, 7 finches, 15 sparrows, 9 blackbirds, and 29 warblers. And the list of unusual species was equally impressive: Greater White-fronted Goose, Brant, Cackling Goose, Whimbrel, Red Knot, Willet, American White Pelican, Black Vulture, Acadian Flycatcher, Louisiana Waterthrush, Golden-winged Warbler, Hooded Warbler, Cerulean Warbler, and Summer Tanager.
