Dr. Bridget Stutchbury

Dr. Bridget Stutchbury completed her Master's of Science at Queen's University, her Ph.D. at Yale and is presently professor of biology at York University. She is the author of two excellent books on birds – The Silence of the Songbirds and The Bird Detective. Her forthcoming book, The Social Lives of Birds: The Struggles and Hopes of a Chinese Schoolgirl, to be published in April, is eagerly awaited.



Ron Tozer

Ron Tozer is Banquet MC and a veteran field trip leader in Algonquin Park, where he was park naturalist until recently. Formerly co-editor of Ontario Birds and Chair of the OBRC, he is writing The Birds of Algonquin Park.

Jody Allair

Jody Allair is a biologist and science educator with Bird Studies Canada and has been actively birding and banding in the Long Point region since he was a teenager.



John Brett

John Brett is a Toronto-based birder who has spent a number of years exploring the Long Point area while working on various projects, including studies of Hooded and Prothonotary Warblers.



Ken Burrell

Ken Burrell volunteered at the Long Point Bird Observatory in his early teens and is now in his last year at the U. of Waterloo, majoring in Environment and Resource Studies and studying reverse migration as part of his thesis.



Mike Burrell

Mike Burrell has been a regular volunteer at Long Point Bird Observatory since he was fifteen. He worked as a naturalist for many summers in Algonquin Park and has recently returned to Long Point to run the Old Cut field station.



Cheryl Edgecombe

Cheryl Edgecombe is a well know Hamilton birder and was hugely popular as the OFO Celebrity birder with her son Ben in 2007.

Christian Friis

Christian Friis spent a number of years working for the Long Point Bird Observatory, mainly at the Tip. He is now based at Toronto, and makes frequent trips to the Long Point area.



Jim Heslop

Jim Heslop is the Director of Public Relations for the Hamilton Naturalists' Club and has led yearly hikes for OFO down to the Long Point Area.



Brandon Holden

Brandon Holden is frequently finding rarities throughout Ontario. His skills extend further into an excellent array of photographic talents.



Stu Mackenzie

Stu Mackenzie has been birding the Long Point area since he was 6 years old and has been living, working and breathing with the birds of the region since 2000.



Jon McCracken

Jon is the Director of National Programs for Bird Studies Canada, and was formerly the Migration Program Manager for Long Point Bird Observatory. He is a past director of OFO and has spent over 30 years as a biologist living and working in the Long Point area.



Ian Platt, Joan Taylor and Gavin Platt

Ian Platt, Joan Taylor and Gavin Platt have been birding for many years together as a family. They lead trips for OFO and Nature London, and regularly enjoy birding along the Lake Erie shoreline. Ian and Gavin are also members of The Grippers, a Birdathon team that did their Birdathon for OFO in 2008.







Bob Stamp

Bob Stamp has led trips for the Hamilton Naturalists' Club and leads a yearly pilgrimage for OFO down to the Long Point Area in early spring.



Paul Pratt

Paul is head naturalist at Windsor’s Ojibway Prairie Provincial Nature Reserve and is a familiar face leading field trips in Point Pelee National Park at past OFO Conventions.
